This is one beautiful bird that is very shy and doesn't like to be photographed. They are members of the Woodpecker family. The forehead head is gray with a bright red nape, and tan around the eyes. The beak is black with black feathers at the base. The bird has a black crescent on it's chest, with a black and white spotted chest and underparts. It's wings and back have black and white bars running from nape to tail. They feed on the ground eating ants and small bugs. They are Tree Clinging Birds.
