This looks like composite decking, which should last pretty well in this environment. The old boardwalk smelled so bad to me. creosote?

Hi RG... The railroad ties to the right in this photo that the railroad tracks are supported by are treated with creosote, so as the odor. If the boadwalk planking is in fact made from a composite material, it should be an big improvement in the low maintenance category.

I tried walking on the composit decking when it first opened and it wasn't as resilient as the original boards.

Dear bclaker, the old boards are gone and history... [ True, A Little Less Bounce To The Ounce ], could be advantageous to us all. Do however keep in mind that we still remain free, [ In Part With The Slogan Of The State Of New Hampshire About Live Free Or Die ], And our ever so ready Veterans that Stand and have Stood in battle every day to keep the dream alive... I remember Family that faught way back during the Revolutionary war, [ SAR ] 'Sons Of American Revolution'... Not so easy back in those days either, mind you... Just think of Them who, got us to 2010, in the first place! Could put a little better hitch in your get along!
