Found this guy in a birch tree near the dock. Yup, that's his eye glowing green....

Hi NHKathy! I didn't think they could orb webs. The glowing is is extremely creepy! Yuck!

That's not a true web for catching prey as these are "wolf" spiders. It's woven to secure the tan/pink egg case that "Mom" has been carrying around. (Case is the size of a dollar coin). I poked at one of those "webs" trying to get some adhesive spider-silk for a boat project—found it wasn't sticky—then branches started shaking and "Mom" came out. "Who goes there?"



Even creepier is finding one in a flashlight beam: They have eight glowing eyes!
