A view of the open area at the northern summit of Piper Mt in Gilford. The actual summit is a few yds to the left of the pictured site. Near the center you can see a circular rock enclosure, standing 3-4 ft tall - it was made decades ago, probably as a blind for fox hunters; I have seen a fox or two cross this site at dusk or near dawn a few times. In the left background we can see part of Sunset Lake, and, behind it, Rocky Mt, both of which are in Alton. To the left of the lake is little Shannon Mt (in Gilmanton) - the Hidden Valley Boy Scout Camp is located at the base of the western side of Shannon Mt.
