West Alton Brook crosses beneath Rte 11A just a bit east of the Alton-Gilford line. It runs towards Winnipesaukee just north of the road, and parallel to it for quite a distance. It crosses Rte 11 just a little north of the 11-11A junction, near the road into the W Alton Marina. That section of the brook has quite a bit of nice scenery associated with it. This photo was taken this morning - crossing the brook by hopping from one strategically placed rock to another proved difficult today, as the cold temperatures of the last 24 hours have caused the tops of many of the rocks to become icy when water splashes over them. A tree like the one in the background that has fallen across the brook offers a safer passage, as long as one's sense of balance is still good.
