This is the best of the many waterfalls that can be seen at the Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area. It is the last falls in a series of 7 that can be seen along a 1/2 mile section of Brook Walk, a short hiking path just below the Castle, which was built along Shannon Brook in the late 1800's because of its extraordinary beauty and the desire of the owners to take advantage of it to attract the rapidly growing tourist boom of that period. Perhaps its most striking feature, besides its 50 ft height, is the deep cut, of more than 20-25 ft, that it has made back into the cliff face it falls down, as it has cut its way into the rock over many millienia.
