Photo looking north from Alton Mt Rd. Some of the damage caused by the recent fire on Mt Major can be seen on the upper slopes of the southern and southeastern part of the mountain, not too far below the summit. A few days ago I walked the Boulder Loop and Bay View Trails, which traverse those sections of the mountain. The fire did reach those trails on their upper sections, and burned a little ways past them, but, at least on those areas of the fire, it seemed to do fairly limited damage, burning mostly brush and debris at ground level and not seriously damaging live trees.
