A view to the NNE of the Belknap Range from Beauty Hill in Barnstead. The range is about 9 miles away from this spot. The views from this hill are a little limited these days, but when it was named, perhaps in the 1800's (or earlier?) about 80% of NH was cleared land, as an agricultural life was the norm for most of the state's history. Then this hill would have been dotted with farms, as hill farms were often favored, because frosts in the fall hit the valleys first, so the hill farms had a few weeks more of growing time. The views from those farm fields would no doubt have been beautiful. The building to the right appears to serve the purpose of a viewing site, where the residents can sit in the cool evening breezes and enjoy a beautiful view.
