Looking SW from the large area of open ledge on the southerly slope of Piper. Mt Monadnock is close to the southern border of NH and is, by far, the biggest mountain in the southern portion of the state. The mountain in the immediate foreground is Whiteface Mt, showing the remnant of the old pastures that once covered its summit. Immediately beyond Whiteface lies the small mountain called Lamprey Hill.
