This is a barn and related out-building of an old farm located near Chesley Mt in Farmington. These buildings have been carefully maintained by the owners for many years, even tho the farm's active use ended quite a while ago. This shows the same farm field as seen in the previous photo. Fall, the season captured in this photo, was the season of harvest on these farm operations of a century or so ago. Most of the farms in this community have long since ceased operation, but a few, such as this one, are still owned by descendents of the early farmers and are kept up to look much like they once did in the 18th and 19th centuries. About the only crop harvested these days is hay from the old fields like this one, as many folks these days keep horses at their rurally situated homes and provide a market for hay. The true harvester in this scene is the red squirrel running along the wall with an acorn in his mouth that he is preparing to store away for the winter that's soon to come.
