Straightback Mt has, in the last few years, been 'discovered'. In the past, few of the many hikers who visited Mt Major would venture west the 1 mi it takes to get to Straightback; however, recently the word has spread about the fine views in all directions from Straightback and many more people are going to it. Many decades ago its summit was cleared as a commercial blueberry pasture - that operation ceased 30+ years ago, but many spots have resisted the regrowth of trees, so now one can get fine views from the site, as well as the bonus of great blueberries in the right season.
