Toss an object that is easy to see (from lake level), run down the dock with the dog on a short leash and, at the crucial second, pull him along with you into the lake! It worked for a buddy. Otherwise, the dog will go into "default mode" each time, and run back to shore—and then go out.



If that doesn't work, lightly wedge a 4'x4' piece of plywood at the end of the dock.
