Nice that they made it but I'm wondering, did they all fall through the ice or did they decide to swim ? I have to say I've never seen, nor heard of, a deer swimming so I did some research. Seems that while not commonly seen, deer are good swimmers. Moose I knew about, but deer, I never gave it much thought. Nice capture !

Nice ending photo sonj. Mee'nMac, I've canoed the river behind our house many times and we were holding a river fest one year with our local watershed group and a deer was swimming in the river. I was the one paddling as we were taking riverfest visitors downstream and back to the launch. The deer was swimming fine, right toward our canoe and almost tried to climb in. I had to push the canoe away at an angle and then the deer kept swimming to the other side of the river. The mom and small child I had with me thought it was great. All I could think of is danger had it had gotten a leg in the canoe.
