Island Girl,
While I can not claim to have a personal knowledge of these boats, my friend in the CG has told me that they are Ambar (Anbar possibly? not sure) rigid hull impactable boats. Not inflatable like a Zodiac but still able to act as a sort of bumper. They do look like alot of fun. They are also quite utilitarian. One came out around midnite to help me look for a boat adrift that I nearly hit. By the time I had gotten home to call the MP it was hard to find again. We finally did and he was able to tow it back pretty easily. Definately a sweet ride

Your favorite boat? I hate this boat every time one appears every boat slows down, even if they are three hundred feet!

I have been a certified Marine Deputy Sheriff in Coos County , OREGON and have had the priveledge of operating several boats of this type for the past 10 years. They(the ones here) are SAFE Boats and with the 4-stroke outboards you are able to sneak up on folks pretty easily, or if it's an emergency they literally fly!
An awesome boat
