The cool early mornings of fall create fog banks above water bodies and wet areas. Along the middle of the photo is a fog bank rising off the Merrymeeting River and Merrymeeting Marsh. Further back is a more massive fog bank rising off Lake Winnipesaukee. In the near background we see part of the Ossipee Range - in the far background are mountains of the Sandwich Range. Three peaks from each range have been identified.
