The trip up over the rockfall offers a chance to explore quite a few rock caves. Two of them along the trail are quite large. Each was created when 2 quite huge chunks of the cliff face above fell to the bottom such as to leave a 4-ft wide passageway between them - later (centuries, perhaps) a smaller slab of rock fell onto the tops of them and created a roof for the cave. The cave seen here is 10-15 ft high and about 3-4 ft wide - it is open on one end and extends for about 35-40 ft. A large cave further on is even larger, but is almost completely enclosed, except for a small entrance and a small hole in the roof.
