That's the original YMCA boat, named "Sandy" after the island. She served the camp well for many years. They replaced her with a boat called the Big Sandy, and she in turn was replaced by the Big Sandy II, which still plows the lake. Today's island and YMCA camp from this angle look very much the same as they did in 1964. Oh, but how those waterfront trees have grown! Possibly some of the people in the picture still come to the island every year! There are families that have been attending for decades. The lake and the island get in your blood.
