This bird, a cormorant, could be a threat to the trout at Shannon Pond which are such a treat to kids and adults alike as they watch them roil the waters when food pellets are thrown to them. The cormorant is one of nature's finest fishing creations. They dive and swim underwater better than most other fish-eating waterfowl. They generally eat so-called "trash fish" (species humans aren't interested in catching), but they sometimes do occasionally catch trout and salmon. Most of the trout in Shannon Pond are probably too big for them to bother with, but they could do real damage to the "younger generation".
