Manning Lake is a quiet pond in a secluded section of Gilmanton. Nearly 3/5 of the shoreline is still undeveloped, and at least 1/2 the shoreline is likely to stay that way, as it is part of a Scout Reservation. There is 1 long-established cabin rental site, and its patrons, a few residents, some fishermen and, lately, the scouts are about the only regular users. Few boating controversies here - really fast boats would probably find it much too confining, and even dangerous to travel on (shallow, narrow, and short running distance) - the traditional users no doubt like it that way. This view is from the east shore (scout land) looking westerly.
