The Rattlesnakes of Squam are the two summits of the small mountain mass that rises up at left center in the photo, just beyond the shoreline. They are perhaps the most popular hiking destination in the Squam Lakes area, because of the ease of reaching the viewsites and because of the exceptional views which they afford. The cliffs seen on West Rattlesnake (left summit)are the spot which most hikers are seeking out for the beautiful view of Squam Lake and beyond which it provides. In the background are seen mountains of the Squam Range on the left and Mt Israel on the right, just to the right of East Rattlesnake.
