Lady of the Lake ~ The steamboat era began on the lake in 1849 when railroad interests began to promote lake travel aggressively. LoL was launched that year by the Concord & Montreal system. Even though B&M put the rival ship Chocorua in service (and each ship operated in its own end of the lake) the Lady was the queen of lake travel for almost 50 years until replaced in 1893 by the Mount.
