...after the Wolfeboro Falls portage in the Smith River Canoe and Kayak Race 5-22-04 Everyone had a blast!
Would you believe that is Governor Benson in the front of the red canoe? From the Granite State News "Even the governor got in on the action this year. Governor Craig Benson and State Attorney General Peter Heed entered the race and finished second in their class.
Following the race, the governor helped Race Chairman Roger Murray present the Barry Lougee Award to Bert Creese. According to the inscription on the plaque, the award is presented annually to the person or persons whose consistent and creative contributions to the Smith River Canoe and Kayak Race exemplify the spirit of Barry Lougee."
