How exciting to see this picture ! My family owned Camp Wyanoke and I spent many hours exploring the shoreline around this island. I remember the day heavy equipment came in and pushed the rocks to the sides and made a sandy beach for the youngest campers. The tall "Charlie Brown" pine lasted many years longer than the gazebo and footbridge, finally succumbing to woodpeckers and old age. Thanks, mcdude, great memories.

I'm told that the gazebo was destroyed in the 1938 Hurricane, but wood remnants were still visible into the 50's. Here's how it looks today:
