Dan Hole Pond has long been a favored fishing spot for serious anglers. It is one of only 2 lakes in the state to positively be known to have once been home to the rare golden trout. Unfortunately, this "native" species could not compete with introduced species and is no longer found in NH (Maine is said to still have some). The pond is also said by some geologists to be filling the neck of an old volcanic vent. Photo taken from an open ledge on the slopes of Canaan Mt.
