In the "olden days", before autos, you took the train the Alton Bay and then hopped on the steamer to reach your lake destination. What you see on the far side of the bay is the old rr depot. The whole area from Blue Jay Mini-Golf down to Pop's Clam Shell was railroad tracks and a turn-about. The main road appears to go up what is now Rand Hill Road and then down through the Christian Camp & loop back on before the Loon Cove bridge. http://www.lwhs.us/alt-railroadstation.htm
