The carriage road leading from the castle to Mt Shaw has a short side road to an outlook on Black Snout - the view over Winnipesaukee (and 100 mi beyond on a good day) is excellent. The new owners (LRCT) plan this year to trim back the growth seen here, which in recent years has begun to obscure the view. This view reaches from Wolfeboro Bay on the left to Red Hill and a little piece of Squam Lake on the right.
