I don't think this bird is a Common Red Poll. It looks more like a House Finch to me. Thanks so much for posting so many Lakes Region birds!!!
House Finches were originally found in Western US and Mexico. In 1940, a small number were let loose in Long Island after failed attempts of trying to sell them as a caged bird. They quickly started breeding and the rest is history!
