Mark Mason built the Hornet in 2008, a replica of an original Gentleman's Racer dating from the 1920s. The original was a contender in the Gold Cup Races, very popular in the 1920s and 1930s. The Hornet currently is powered by a GMC 600 HP V-8 that, believe it or not, runs on 89 octane regular unleaded gasoline! This boat can achieve speeds up to 70 mph. Driven in this photo by Alan Larter.
