This is a photo from early April a couple of years ago. A mid-morning shot with a light dusting of snow showing from an earlier squall. Round Pond is only about 10 ft deep in its deepest spots, so it does tend to warm up fairly quickly - being 1000 ft higher than Winnipesaukee, it also has lower mean temperatures that may tend to cancel out that advantage somewhat. Being very high up in the Belknap Range, the pond does tend to have an alpine look, being surrounded by a mostly spruce forest, with bog-loving plants and shrubs around its periphery.
