Yesterdays clear, crisp atmosphere provided a distinct view of some of the most northerly mountains visible from the Mt Roberts outlook. Scar Ridge is immediately SE of Loon Mt, 25 mi to the NW (ski area off the Kancamagus Highway near Lincoln); LaFayette, NH's 2nd tallest mountain, is 32 miles away in the Franconia Range (only the topmost part of its peak shows); and Owls Head is 30 miles away, just a little east of LaFayette. Sandwich Dome, in the Sandwich Range, is much nearer - just to its right, passing just in front of the 2 peaks of Osceola and occupying most of the right half of the photo, is Flat Mt. Another Flat Mountain, just in front of the 1st Flat Mt, is not flat at all, but more pyramidal in shape. A little to the left and below that Flat Mt is another, significantly smaller pyramid-like peak called Young Mt.
