The scene at Shannon Pond a couple of days after the flood. You can see on the grassy bank the sign of the high water mark - the water got slightly above the top rail on the feeding dock. It also briefly spilled over the emergency spillway at the far side of the dam. The dam's vertical outlet pipe is immediately in front of the dock at the spot closest to the bottom of the photo. You see how the current created here has attracted all of the debris brought to the pond by winds and the waters of Shannon Brook. Note the accumulation of the matted pine needles at the top of the rail closest to the front of the photo.
