Wentworth Hill is a fine view spot in Sandwich. Mt Israel, an important mountain in Sandwich history, is at the center of the photo. In the right background is Sandwich Dome, a giant landscape feature of the local scene. In the left background is the northerly end of the Squam Range. Mt Dinsmore is to Israel's left - in front of Dinsmore is the small hill called Diamond Ledge. At the left the beginning of Sandwich Notch is seen - the Sandwich Notch Road, leading from Sandwich to Goose Hollow in Thornton, is a road frozen in time, looking much like it did in the mid 1800's (narrow and mostly dirt) when it was a very important commercial artery for agriculture for the whole northen part of NH.
