If I had been quicker getting to the camera, I would have been able to take a better picture. Adult female bears around here average about 170 lb., while full-grown males average about 300 lbs. A week earlier I had seen such a male bear on a neighboring mt. - Piper Mt. Three cubs, as seen here, are the typical number of cubs born to bears in NH.
