Turtleback is the closest mountain, just left of center. Seen from the west, it looks like the shell of certain sea turtles. The large area of ledge just below the summit is Bald Knob, a well-known destination for hikers of the area - it provides sweeping views from east to west of the Lakes Region and beyond. The smaller ledge, to the right and slightly above Bald Knob, is the spot from which the following photo was taken. The mountain in the background to the right is Mt Shaw.
