A short time ago I posted a photo of herons and an osprey located at this bog. That was taken at the northern end of this large bog; this photo was taken at the sourthern end, where the dam is (just a few steps from where I took the shot) - it is a very large bog, tho not very deep, as shown by the drowned trees still standing way above the water. The ledges you can see on Shannon Mt, in the background, provide grand views - you can access them conveniently from the Boy Scout camp in Gilmanton. See if you can spot the beaver lodge in the picture.
