Looking across the NW shoreline of Crystal Lake to the ridge connecting Whiteface Mt (on the right) to Durrell Mt (partially seen on the left). About 3/4 of the way up the mountain we can see two old, 19th century farm sites, where the Sargent Rd winds its way across the high ground of the ridge. Such old farms were often sited on such high ground, as it provided farmers with more frost-free days to grow their products. Still used, apparently, is one of the high pastures shown above one of the farms.
