Wolfeboro Airpark's Own Cessna Splashed...

Description: On a very quiet day, I was alerted to the distant crash by overhearing a conversation between a boater and someone on shore. Only an hour after the crash, it is shown here being retrieved from its "no-power" crash in waist-deep waters off Ayer's Point. No one was injured, and from a close-up view by boat, there was no loss of fuel. To the airframe, there was only light damage to one wingtip. A related photo (of mine) of the dunk was featured on the front page of Wolfeboro's Granite State. News in 2001.

Description: The sawmill in Johnson's Cove that last saw some major cutting action after the 1938 Hurricane. (One very cranky owner!) Within our lifetimes, it remained in place for about half of Winni.com's demographic age-group.

Description: Driving north from downtown Wolfeboro, this Lake Wentworth scene is readily seen from the road. I've driven past this scene a zillion times (which is really more panoramic than it appears here) and never knew it had a name! There's a few other historical postcards showing trains on this stretch of rail. I have a few in B&W, and if I ever find them again, I'll post them here.

Description: Winter Harbor has one of this lake's oldest camps. While Camp Ossipee is 150+ years old, tent canvas is continually updated. Like this one, a few tent platforms are added as the owners' families increase in number. King George's Redcoat troops could have shaded themselves under old-growth White Pines still growing there.
