It climbed a neighbor's tree and stayed there for almost two hours. Another neighbor took a picture of the bear up in the tree. We estimate it weighed between 250 - 300 pounds. When it finally came down from the tree it proceeded to rummage through several trash cans and then went off into the woods. Here's the photo of the bear up in the tree.
