New Enclosure for the boat

Description: Got our boat back today from Shipshape Marineworks in Gilford. They did a camper enclosure for our 25 ft Mariah, and did a new matching bowcover with vent. They use a thread that will not rot out like polyester thread does. Thanks Shipshape.

Description: Saw the thick end of this branch or tree sticking out of the water, and it looked like a duck floating. Steered away from it and then realized it was a stick, rather thick stick. Turned back to it and as I sidled up to it, my wife said it was huge. She was right. Took it to a friend's house on Rattlesnake, who we knew were out there and asked if we could drop it off. Boat is a 25' BR, there is 2-3 feet hanging over the stern, and about 2 feet you can't see in the foreground. Potential for some serious damage there. Glad I saw it.

Description: Winds are 20-35 MPH blowing down the bay. Waves are about 2 feet and are rocking the Carver parked at Downings. Broads look like the ocean.

Description: Here are bird feeders in my back yard, 10 feet off ground. Bear got the first edition that had bottles on the wire to keep squirrels off. Bear climbed the tree to the left of picture to pull on the wire.

Description: While out snowshoeing, I came upon this little puddle area in a stream, with a multicolor background of leaves on the bottom, the reflection of the bare trees on the surface, and the surface rippled by water running into the puddle. I liked the effect. Happy new year to all.

Description: This nest is on the bottom of an electrical transformer just up the street from our house. I wouldn't want to be "the lineman from the county", in the words of the Glen Campbell song of yore :).

Broad Wing Hawk

Description: We heard this hawk screeching, and looked out by our wood pile and saw this hawk and another. Tried to get a clear picture, but unfortunately I had to shoot through the window. It was definately sitting on something, probably a chipmunk or red squirrel. When I tried to get a pic out the screen door it took off, and I could see something hanging down out of its talons. It landed in a tree, but I could not get a clear shot before it flew off deeper into the woods. At least I know what that screeching is in the evenings!!!! :)

Description: this is just off the boat ramp, and under the arrow is a hole about 2-3 inches square, and you could see water actually coming up through the hole. Strange. just a sign that it won't be long before you can't get on the ice at the launch area.
