This photo is taken at one of our favorite places to go and picnic/swim. Our family used at call it "Bare Bottom Beach" because swim suits were strictly optional equipment for the afternoon swim. Gilfert 11/28/2008" "The Sea She Be Angry Today" and will hang in the Tavern for eternity, perpetually awaiting my return. Mug owners receive a 10% discount on draft beers for life which seems like a pretty fair deal...until you compute how much it actually cost you to obtain it. With the limitation of only being able to consume two beers per visit, that translates into (in my case) 47 lunches at the tavern. Given that there were virtually always six adults at each visit (my wife plus my son and daughter and their spouses) and the fact that I always picked up the lunch & beer tab....I compute that this mug cost me in the neighborhood of $5K to obtain. rgilfert Fri, 20 Apr 2012 12:02:39 +0000 The Magic Moment https://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=18547

by: rgilfert

Description: My Lip-Lock with the Wolfe's Tavern Moose (11/28/2008) rgilfert Fri, 20 Apr 2012 11:50:34 +0000 Enjoying my final beer https://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=18546

by: rgilfert

Description: Having consumed 94 different beers in completing the Wolfe's Tavern Beer Challenge (and many of them were pretty bad) I saved Guiness to be my last beer. (Aug 1977) The boathouse opening was only a few inches wider than the boat itself...and given the Coronado's undersized rudder it was virtually impossible to steer at headway speed. The predominate NW wind would frequently catch the boat's freeboard and blow you towards the huge submerged rock beneath the right hand boathouse door. The only way to shoehorn the boat in was to come in "hot" and bang it into reverse. Every year my Grandfather would nail the previous year's license plate to the wall inside the boathouse and when we sold the place in 1984 we had every plate between the year 1919 and 1984 other than one of the WWII years when gasoline wasn't available for recreational use.
