Default Black Cat Island murder

I was just speaking with one of my venders and it turns out that he used to work for the phone company fixing and installing phones on the islands on Winnipesaukee. When I told him that I lived on Black Cat Island he recalled that there was a murder on the island back in the 70's. I've lived here 10 years now and had never heard that story before. Does anybody have any recollections to share?

I live near Black Cat Island and I clearly remembered that night. I remember where I was, what I doing etc. it has been a long time, but if I remember correctly the son killed his parents. His sister pretended she was dead so she survived. The son was found the next day in Maine. I think they found him in his car. He was dead. It was a suicide.

I was 7 years old. My Mom and Dad took me and my four siblings to Dari Maid in Center Harbor for some ice cream. I remember it like it was yesterday. At that age, I had never seen so many police cars responding to an incident. It was loud and chaotic. It was obvious from that parking lot in Center Harbor that something major was going on and this was in a period of time where you didn't see these events played out on TV 4 times a day. Back in those days, everyone in our small little town had one of those police scanners in their homes. I vividly remember coming home from Dari Maid and listening to that scanner all night and being really scared. I'm pretty sure it was a Friday night. After two or three hours had passed, no one knew where the suspect was and at one point they pulled a car over thinking they had the suspect. I can still see myself sitting on our kitchen floor listening to the scanner to every detail when they had that car pulled over and hoping that the whole thing was over. They found the suspect in a sandpit just over the NH line in Maine the next day with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. It's crazy how vivid that memory is to me.

Default I Remember too - July 1980

Here is a link to a newspaper story. http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...g=3983,5095187

I was home on the island that night and remember the police presence. Several neighbors went out for the evening and had long waits to be able to come back over the bridge.

Default Out of respect for the families involved

Yes, there was an incident circa 1979 or 1980.
As far as whether it belongs "on the web"?
The families involved had been through so very much trauma.
As a guess, there are those aware at the Island meetings.
Not as a meeting topic.
