Arrow Video

On Facebook, Bill states it is best viewed on YouTube directly. (HD maybe?)

Super job flyguy! If anybody out there still isn't sure where the Lakes Region is this beautiful video explains it perfectly. Great music too!

My only disappointment, no view of Welch.

Default Nice Shot

I always thought FlyGuy was a fixed wing pilot.

While watching the video.. I kept wondering: HOW does he DO That Pan from a fixed wing aircraft without seeming to be in a "steep turn" around a seemingly fixed point..? Now I know. It's a hover with a slow rotation... in place. NB

wicked cool! Just over Mt. Major you see a nice perspective of my "neck of the wods" Just over Mt. Maor you see Hills Pond, and then in ascending order; Sunset Lake, Crystal Lake and Upper and Lower Sunook. To the right is Manning Lake. Between Sunset and Manning is the Hidden Valley Scout Reservation.

Thanks Bill!

Nope. I do use a helicopter when necessary, but this entire 2+ minute shot (no cutaways, no splicing) was done from a Cessna 172. Dave Emerson (Emerson Aviation) flying. I just added the promo shot & helo sound to confuse you!!

We were OVER Welch Island- that's why it's not in the shot. Altitude was 6,000 feet above the lake.

Yes it looked like Welch was about the center of the circle. A reasonable choice as Welch is central in the lake.

We did enjoy the aerial view which is sort of a preview. Our kids gave us a gift certificate at Christmas for a scenic biplane ride which we will schedule for a summer day when they are at camp and can watch us fly by.

Default FlyGuy: Still Wonderin....

SO FlyGuy: You are in the Right seat of a 172..with the window pinned open up to the wing....with your camera out the open window..Your body TWISTED around facing Aft so you don't get the wing, ..OR the wing strut..OR the Tail in the picture. Making a slow turn to the right.

I also considered ..maybe you turned the Right seat around backwards on the tracks so the seat is facing aft...Prolly wouldn't work because the back of the seat would "interfere" (NOT Good) with the right Yoke.

OK Young Man...HOW did you do it...??? If I tried twisting around to take the video for 2 minutes....I would be frozen in place and have to be removed from the aircraft on landing, by EMTs.

NOTE: For those who don't know: In a fixed wing aircraft..(172)..the PILOT is (usually) in the Left seat and the pasenger in the Right seat. In a helicopter the PILOT is in the Right seat. .....NB

Default Great Video!

When I had the Bucaneer, I've always wanted to video the lake.

Thanks for sharing!

I always fly the plane- from the left seat- until we start shooting, at which point I turn it over to my safety pilot so that I can concentrate fully on the shot. In the helicopter I usually shoot from the left rear seat (as you saw in the picture).

FYI- we did NOT get this shot the first time!
