Smile Gillan Marine

This is a question regarding Gillan Marine. Has anyone heard if Ernie JR. is no longer with the marina and the Sr. has taken over for good and not as a temp as reported before as Jr. had health issues????

Default not sure what is going on...

In looking at the New England Boat show list of exhibitors, I noticed that Gillan Marine was missing.

Then I heard that Ernie Sr. doesn't want to work that hard anymore, and that the business is up for sale.

Too bad...Ernie Sr. help me out by helping another marina get an Optimax engine for me. No one else around the lake would help. They all said to bring the boat to them, buy the motor through them, and they would install it. There are a ton of stories out there that put some other marinas to shame regarding customer service. What ever way it works out, I wish the best for Ernie Sr, and if Junior is having some health issues, I wish him the best as well.

Ernie Jr. Is no longer associated with the business. I would tread very lightly if you intend to ask Ernie Sr. . Not a good thing.

Default Gillian Marine now Irwin

Saw a sign outside of Gillan this morning saying it's the new Irwin location. Wonder if it remains a Larson dealer.

Thumbs down

Gillan marine has been sold. Jr is out, Sr took over and didn't want to run it anymore. It has been sold to Irwin. Looks like I'll be taking my business elsewhere..

On Irwins web page this annoucement:
We are excited to announce that we have a second Alton Bay location! Come visit the new management team, Kevin McCarthy and David Bowman! See the new store at 396 Main Street and let us prove to you that Irwin Marine is the only choice for your boating needs!

Gillan's web page (http://www.gogillan.com/) has been changed to say Irwin.

I was thinking the same thing? I bought our current boat from them, and they have been great in all concerns.
This was after having to deal with some real problem places on Cape Cod.
It's been three years with this boat and no problems at all. And they always ask if there are any.
I don't get the dislike at all?

Default Irwin is a big Plus for the Lakes area

I agree on questioning why negative comments about Irwin's.

They have a big presence in NH and have done well to make boating as efficient as their customer's want. It is a business but the staff has always made it feel like more of a big family.

There will always be those that feel cheated but based on our 14 years of boating with the Irwins our experience has been fantastic and extremely positive.

I would say that if you want to know why some people may not like them, that you talk to them in person. Everyone may not be comfortable posting such issues in a public forum such as this.

Default Irwin's has done right by me

I have experience buying boats with Irwin's at both their Hudson and Laconia stores and have never had an issue. They provided great customer service and I felt like they valued me as a customer.
