Light floating across the lake
I’m back for my yearly visit and enjoying it immensely. That being said, I’ve been watching this strange light going across the water against the current so it must be propelled by something. I’m staying in Moultonboro Neck so if anyone knows what this is I’d be curious to know. I’ll be keeping my eye on it!! Very strange.

A couple of years ago while paddling at night, I saw a small floating light in the distance, so of course I had to investigate. Like you, the oddity and eeriness got to me. It was a battery powered LED patio light.

The light you’re seeing could be caused by a few things. It might be a boat or a small watercraft with lights on it. Sometimes lights from docks or houses across the water can reflect and appear to move. It could also be something like a lantern or even wildlife with reflective properties. Keeping an eye on it and noting any patterns might help you figure out what it is.
