Default Boat Keys

Purchased a new "used" boat and it only has 1 set of keys. For safety sake I'd like to have a second set made. Any recommendations in the lakes region?

Most Home Depots and Lowes make keys.

If key is a specialty key, unlikely Lower or Trustworthy will be able to make ?

I had specialty key, and went to Bob's Lock & Key in Laconia, wasn't cheap !

Good luck.

My Sea Ray key had a number on it. Irwin had some for me with that number.

I have used Bob' Lock. Excellent, pricey but worth it.

I've had Lowe's and a True Value try and duplicate my Sea Ray keys, none worked.

Ended up going to Irwin and get a set for around $19.

If it's got an outboard, you will most likely need to go to an appropriate dealer to get spares (or at least that is the case with Yamaha's--the keys have codes on them).

Default Aubuchon

I have had keys made for both our boats at Aubuchon in Meredith, without any problems, after trying a few other places.

Default eBay

Sorry, little late to this discussion to add my experience. Ignition keys: I had no problem getting these made at Aubuchon - nothing special about them. Cabin keys: I'd argue for checking eBay. E.g., my boat takes a numbered Southco/Mobella key. There's a company with listings on eBay that'll make your numbered key. Have it in a few days. $9.

Default Spare boat key

Because I am a knucklehead, I keep my spare boat key on the ring with my car keys. If I forget to hang the regular key up at the end of a weekend, and it travels elsewhere, at least I know the spare made it back to the lake with me.
