Default Summer People

A few of us who live on or by the Lake, in trying to eke out a living, supplement our incomes by taking on odd jobs for the summer folks. One job is home security checks during the winter when the people are not on the lake. ( No, I am not looking for more work!)

The thing is to enter the house, check for heat, water, storm damage, etc. and to report to the owners to give them comfort that all is well. We try not to be obtrusive or prying, yet through. But some things just have to catch your eye.

Like a picture of proud Grandpa whith a six year old angler holding up a massive six inch perch.

Or a wall with pencil marks on it saying things like Tom 1968... and a bit higher, Tom 1969. Next to it is Tom Jr. 1984... and a bit higher, Tom Jr. 1985.

Or a bedroom loft with four little beds in it.

Or a basement room with a white board filled with Red Sox stats.

While you may not be here "off season" I know that you are in your hearts.

'Looks like an early ice out. Can't wait to see ya!

Misty Blue.

PS. You can drop a hook at my place any time!

That is one of my favorite things in our cottage, except the names and dates are on a set of double doors. Since new family members are added every year the doors are quite crowded. Just a rough calculation and I suspect there are over 50 relatives' names on that door. I've got the record though, as the only one that had to continue the marks above the door on the door jamb.

Thanks for the thought Misty Blue.

With all the termoil surrounding the ongoing trial .... It so nice to read something positive about our beloved lake! We enjoy it so much and it has gotten some real bad publicity lately. Thanks for your post it really brightened my day and made me hope even harder for an early ice out this Spring! We call our place our Tree House in NH. We can't get there fast enough.

Default Thanks Misty!

You make us summer folk feel quite welcome! Thanks!!!

You and Deb's Joy are always welcome in my neck of the woods. As are the nice friends that we met at your place when we stopped by to pick up Mac's new bed that Deb made. By the way, he just loves that bed! I think it's time for one for the lake. I'll be in touch.

Hope to see you and your friends this summer. You all are much fun to visit with and be around.

Thanks for the great post.

Anxious to get back to the lake!

Good thing for you AND me Pineedles that we don't measure the waist every year and mark it on the door.

Default H & w

You know Bill I was thinking the same thing when I posted that. Since they're kinda thin doors I could be the only person who has to mark width on both doors if I'm not careful.
