Don’t think it was a 130. Too small

Default Yikes

I was driving past Center Harbor as it flew over. VERY low. Cool to see but I had to double take to be sure he pulled up!

Default Planes flying low

I'm sorry, I meant that the subject of planes flying low over Center Harbor has been covered before in other threads. Apparently it is a popular spot.

Default Nat'l Security Operation?

Maybe the invasion of Canada, our new national security risk, has begun?

Def not an Osprey. I could be wrong about # of engines though. Only saw it for a sec. Silly low. Used to be a pilot and I'm telling you he was 200 AGL and not much higher. I've seen a lot of military planes over the lake in the past 20 years but nothing THIS low!

Yup...wife and I saw a pair of them last week (Thursday) they flew over us at low altitude one on each side. We were crossing the broads headed toward the Wiers and they flew low over Welch toward Meredith then circled back over Center Harbor.

If it flew over Long Island at 200' AGL that is a violation.

We were in Alton Bay and saw it banking up after coming across the lake. 4 engines, so my guess is it was a C130.

I see the same thing almost daily in Florida, but it's a Beech Bonanza V-tail buzzing an area of residences. Maybe it's to announce an arrival, with a 30-minute drive from the nearest airport. A "Make me a sandwich" buzzing?

I suspect the C-130 pilot knows somebody in Center Harbor, and is buzzing them—partly "legally".

It was either Monday or Tuesday when I heard a C-130. He was flying low over Mirror Lake. Distinctive sounds—coming and going.

First flown in 1954, 2,500 had been built by 2015. (Wikipedia)

Here's what a C-130 Hercules looks like on the ground. (Photo courtesy of FlightAware):

Default Video of the 2 military planes that day

I happened to catch a video of the two planes. Video is from near the east end of Sally's Gut looking north as they headed toward Center Harbor & Long Island. The 1st plane came very low down the channel directly over me, then swooped up and banked hard, but it took me a minute before I could get my camera out.

I doubt it was at 200 feet, they are big so they look lower than the are. There is an MOA that bumps up against Center Harbor to the north and west. They fly missions there, used to be A10s flying around, I haven't seen them in a few years around the lake, but I did see 6 of them at Pease a few months ago. That's the sound of freedom.

When I was regularly flying from Ellington CT to Laconia the route took me directly over Westover in Chicopee MA. The C130's (131's?) flew the pattern there on Tuesdays and Thursday.

I flew over them. Due to their size, they seemed to be nearly motionless below me.

Two C-130's just went over Welch, 300' to 400' or more up as a WAG. ANG training I assume. Not all that quiet!
