Default Moultonboro, Ice Racing

We had a great time last Sunday on Lee Pond, in Moultonborough.
The Lakes Region Ice Race Club had their first race of the season.
It was a fun afternoon watching the cars running on the pond.

This weekend they are having a Saturday and a Sunday race.
Saturday will be a benefit race at Berry Pond on RTE 25 in Moultonborough.
Starting at 10:am

I can post more info, if any one is interested.

Saturdays’ race is called the Latchkey Cup
A $10 donation per spectator car goes to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. The event is sponsored by the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club. The Jaffrey and Milton Race Clubs also show up to race and support the cause. Over the past 21 years, the Lakes Region Ice Racing Association has raised almost $200,000 for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

The pits will open at 8:30 the event should start at 10:00. Bring a tailgate Lunch or support the concession stand. Plenty of hot coffee, cocoa, burgers, dogs and such will be available.

The racing will consist of a few classes;
JR’s 4 cyl.(13-15 yrs.),
Adult 4 cyl RWD & 4 cyl. FWD
Adult stock & modified.

Do you want info on the cars and racing????

Default Yes more info!

Thanks NE Rob..........I've had a hard time finding out info about the racing season. Any updates would be great!
Also......I'm surprised there isn't a web site and/or more info in the Laconia papers? If someone gives me the info, I'd gladly put it in the papers. I remember the Citizen used to have a little story in the sports section with race results etc. Let me know if i can help.

I just heard from the Lakes Region Ice Race Club. They are going to plow the 2nd track on Berry Pond for this Sundays race. Pits open at 10:30 Racing starts at 12:.

This past Saturday saw a great turnout for the Latchkey Race. Thanks to everyone there...
I was busy in the pits on my Daughters 32 car. She had a CV joint blow out in the Jr. feature race, just after taking the lead. Broke her heart to get pushed off the track. We all had a great time despite the break down.
We hooked up with some race folks from up north they fixed it up for the Sunday race and she took the checkerd flag in the Jr. race for the heat and the feature. Thank You Ryan!!!

"Shamless Plug" Being from Mass we need a place to stay for long weekends.
We stayed 3 nights at the Berry Pond Motel, Nice folks, Clean room, great price, We'll be back.

Smile Calendar

NE Rob, can we put you in charge of adding these events to our calendar since you seem to have an inside track on these races? They are of definite interest here at Winnipesaukee.com! Thanks for the info.

Very good photos, Sunset Bob, I looked at the ones in the photopost earlier but didn't have time to comment on them. I didn't even know they still had that kind of racing going on around here. I grew up with horses but had a friend with a horse, her brother used to race all the time eons ago.

Default Thats Her!!!!

Sunset Bob; Nice photo's. We have video of most of her racing. This year I put a digital cam in the car on the rollcage. I'm hoping to learn how to do some basic editing and put them on DVD.

Default Sunday's Ice Racing

Hi gang........I was at the races Sunday which were held on Lee Pond instead of Berry pond for some reason. I always get there nice and early and get a good spot. i was surprised at the turnout...there must have been between 100-150 cars and in some cases, standing room only.
It was a great day, the people are always friendly and it sure is fun to watch.
I would love to do that but those days are gone for now.
I wonder if they have ever thought of a 4wd race with different classes?
That would be cool to watch also!

PS....I thought we were going to get a visit from a NH Nat'l Guard chopper that flew over real low and turned sharply at the end of the pond and headed back the way in came in. Kinda cool!

Also, Rob....I think the races actually still start at 1 or so.....they actually started at about 12:50.

Hopefully I can make it back next Sunday!

I was at the latchkey cup race and had a great time. After seeing the photos, my family wants to see a race. Anyone know when and where the next race is?

Well, I was told Berry Pond. But the warm weather didn’t help.
They made a last minute change to Lee Pond. And we did have a great turn out inspite of the change.

Did you happen to see my Emma (32 car) splash into the outside of turn four. I thought it would shake her. But she nailed first gear and hauled out of the soup, kept going to take the checkered.

From here on the race season is day by day. I won’t know if we are on till late Sat eve. If I can get to a computer I'll post it.
