Default Teens on a Toon

I am thinking of renting a pontoon boat for a day to take kids and friends out on a busy summer weekend. I know there are many rental options. I was wondering if anyone could share info/advice/opinions about a trip of cruising & swimming. I dont have 'toon experience nor anchoring areas knowledge. I have my boaters card and keep a 17ft/115hp boat on the lake that I only fish from. Any info appreciated. Newbie harrasment accepted

Only advice I have is rent a tritoon with some hp behind it or they'll be board. Teens are boat snobs and don't consider Pontoons real boats.

Default Teens on a Toon

Your teens will love their day on a toon! Just make certain to get a tube along with the rental' The marina where you rent will show you the two most popular swim areas.
I recommend Shep Browns as they have new boats and do a great job of accommodating renters.

Default teens

we rented a tritoon from Thurstons, with a 150 hp Had a great time. Had such a good time with the boat, I bought it at the end of the season. I know people have tritoons with bigger outboards but we had a great time our first time out with our first boat.

We have a 20' tritoon with 150 and we're seeing 39 or so with a full tank, my wife and two kiddos. If I got the trim right, I'm sure I'd hit 40, and if I tossed the fam, I'm confident I'd be around 42+!

That being said, tell my former students that visit EVERY SUMMER that 'toons are no fun.

THAT being said, rent a tritoon with the biggest motor you can so you can a. Tube, 2. Get to where you wanna go, and d. Pull the weight of the extra passengers.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Rented a 24` tri-toon last year with 8 women. Definitely worth the extra horse power.( please no comment at this point ) I believe it had a 200 or 225 horse on it and topped out at 30 miles and hour. Spent a $127 to fill it up at end of day and found out the marina was 50-75 cent a gallon more than a local competitor. Cruised the whole time except to swim and eat. Went thru 3/4 tank for the day.........Great experience

Does your wife tell you to slow down after 20mph like mine? Everyone who I take out thinks were going way to fast.

Nope--she just enjoys the ride. Does make getting places a lot quicker, which is nice.

If you take a close look at the photos you'll see they are tri-toons. The center pontoon is recessed from the front.

reminds me of the Great Outdoors with Dan Akroid and John Candy. John wanted to rent a pontoon but Dan convinced them to rent "Suck My Wake."
