Default mechanic for an old boat?

Hi, anyone want to recommend a marine service that likes and is good with old boats? I have a vintage bowrider and am thinking of replacing the engine (engine got messed up with some aftermarket parts put in by the second owner..) but my current boat mechanic has had the boat out for repairs with no progress (and no apparent work) since the original put in date weeks ago and I don't think they're really interested.

You could try Lakes Region Boat Restoration on Rte. 28 in Wolfeboro.

Kevin Griffin & Peter Learn from Off the Water Marine (603-253-5179) keep my '83 ski boat running a treat!

They're based out of Harilla Landing and great to work with.

How's about Lighthouse Marine Services, 147 Middle Rd, Center Tuftonboro which has a long ad in Craigslist-NH/boats with 13 different boat repair photos plus they are a Tohatsu outboard dealer.

Seriously go over to Lakes Region and look at all the old boats they are restoring. They have one that is Canadian so needs a Canadian motor they are waiting for while restoring the rest. They have from rowboats up. We are having our bottom done there this winter. Not saying there aren't other good places....

I'm having trouble matching "bowrider" and Vintage" in my mind. What year/make boat? I/O? What make/model engine and outdrive?

Default maybe not vintage....

I probably used the term imprecisely. It's 50 years old fiberglass with nice late-60s styling. The problem is the engine, not the hull which is in terrific shape. Yet another of those boats that must have lived in a barn somewhere for a long time.

I don't know where you are located. Give a look at Fay's boat yard. I am sure Jeff would be able to help with engine problems.

Jeff does know old boat engines. If he is too busy, he may have a suggestion.
